Brewed in honor of those who perished in the 1904 Baldock Beer Disaster in England when 300 barrels of beer fell three floors through the brewery, crushing eight workers to death, drowning five and injuring another fifteen, temporarily hitting surrounding streets with a wave of beer which destroyed three houses and killed a dog, this 'Mid-Coast' India Pale Ale has high hop bitterness, flavor and aroma with medium alcohol content, fruity, floral and citrus-like American-variety hop character, copper color and medium maltiness and body, but unlike West Coast IPA versions, the hop bitterness is more balanced by increased use of crystal malts.

Draft at the Normal IL location. Poured a copper color with a compact, foamy/creamy off-white head. Aroma was citrus grapefruit, floral notes, caramel malt notes. Flavor was grapefruit, caramel notes, floral. Biscuit, bready, caramel! Nice, enjoyable.

on tap-pours a thin white head and dark, slightly hazy amber color. Aroma is light pine hops, light malt. Taste is pine/resin/citrus hops, secondary/some light malt. OK carbonation.
