Hand-pulled third of a pint in The Boot, Wellington on 15th May 2024. Black has been dropped from it's name, but it's still a 4 grain Stout at 4.1% ABV. It is in fact 'black' in colour, tanned foam on top. Smells grainy and tastes grainy, roasted barley mostly, some hop action too, nice easy drinking Stout!

(Cask at Cask Pub & Kitchen, Pimlico, London, 11 Apr 2014) Black colour with dense, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of chocolate, coffee, roasted oats and dark fruit. Malty, roasted taste with chocolate, caramel, dried fruit, coffee and a generous roasty bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with a certain sweetness. Tasty and well balanced stout. Very nice.

Cask at the Caley Sample Room. Dec 12. Pours dark brown, near black, thick beige head. Strong roasted aromas, light chocolate. More on the taste, coffee, ash, some nuttiness. Clean finish. Not bad.

Cask @ NWAF, Derby. Very dark brown, almost black. Opaque. Malty, nutty, slightly sour aroma. Sweet, easy, malty taste, somewhat less complex than promised by the aroma. Undemanding, refreshing stout.

Cask at the Cask, Pimlico, 13/06/13. Dark mahogony brown with a thin tan head. Nose is roast malt, light coffee, touch of chocolate. Taste comprises light roast, oats, toffee, dark malts, blackcurrant, light coffee notes, hint of liqourice. Medium bodied with fine carbonation lending towards a dry finish. Decent enough stout.

Half pint, cask by hand-pump at Pivni. Ruby dark coloured body. Spotty lacing. Dark malty nose with a peaty touch. Smell of earth, bread and mild roasted meat. Bitter liquorice to the finish. Medium to thin bodied. Ok (York, 26.01.2013).
