Telegraph Obscura Arborea is an ale brewed in the style of Belgium’s Oude Bruin, the famous Flanders Sour Brown Ales. Our wild brown ale has a malty character suggesting dark caramel and dried fruit, and is balanced by a refreshing lactic tartness from the wild yeast used during aging. Cherry-like aromas and a hint of oak round out this sensory experience and make for an extremely satisfying and unique beer. Proost!

Bottle shared by someone at the October Houston tasting. Pours a hazy amber with a bubbly gray head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a bit of acid and funk, but mainly grain and sour fruit. Flavor has lots of grain with a bit of sour stone fruit and funk in the finish. Hint of acid.

750 shared by Marcus. Pours very obsured dark amber with a foamy near beige head. Aroma is like fig/date. Very different. Maybe a hint of cherry. Full bodied. Flavor is mildly sour cherry with just a touch of chocolate and a deal of dark malt. Pretty good stufff. Gets some oak in the finish. Very, very nice.

Aroma: Yeasty, toasted malts, dried fruit and spices
Taste: Toasted malts, yeast, dark fruits and woody
Nice

Bottle (batch 77) thanks to hopheadjim. Pours with a murky amber hue and a lasting small tan head. Aromas of plum skins, lacto, tannins, bready malt, vinous, light brett, estery and a hint of acetobacter. Flavors are very malty and rich, dubbel like at first with a vinous edge, raisins, lacto and a nice (albeit mild) brett character. Pretty good complexity and balance struck between malt and funk. Sadly, the mouthfeel detracts from the overall experience. Extremely overcarbonated (to the point were it inhibits ones ability to taste the beer. Huge CO2. Finishes dry and acidic. Tasty.
