Huge dense & frothy cream head, pitting in over red-shot black beer. Roast, sweet, nutty, meaty; Maillard reaction, breadcrust. Sweetish, less roasted than the nose, bit of coffee, dark bread, roasted nuts. Quite chewy, very oatmeal slick, well-carbonated. Decent if unassuming stout. Txs to Stef!

Cask at Lord Burton, Burton on Trent. Pours almost black with minimal tan head and good lacing. There’s oats and roasted malts in the aroma. In the mouth it is sweet and creamy but with a little underlying bitterness. Flavour has roasted malts, dark fruits and chocolate with liquorice and traces of coffee and oats coming through later. Sweetness lasts into the finish. This is nice.

First brewver rate up the White Lady I think! Pours clear dark brown with a thin bubbly beige head. Aromas of liquorice, charcoal and blackcurrant. Taste is more of the same. Roasty finish. Decent.

[Cask at the Hope Tap (JDW), Reading.] A deep mahogany coloured pour with a close beige head; aroma of roasted malts; silky smooth in the mouth with sweet grains, some raisins and cocoa powder; and a sweet fruity chocolate finish with a lasting bitterness. Very pleasant.
