Cask-conditioned at the Wenlock Arms, 21/8/2015. Near black with a lacy, beige, head. Milk chocolate, toasted malts, a touch of berry fruit sweetness and creamy porridge oats before a warming finish. Good.

Cask @ Old Gate, Hebden Bridge. Dark brown-red with a slightly off-white creamy head. It’s texture is easy drinking for its strength, with a small smoothness attached. Has a sweetened aroma and taste that’s certainly fused with darker malts, some of which are roasted and there’s a chocolate aftertaste.

Shared bottle at RB/HD 07.02.15. Almost black. Small and diminishing brown head. Soft aroma of dark chocolate, coffee and roasted malts. Similar taste. Some hop bitterness in aftertaste. High drinkability.

Half pint, cask at Earl of Essex, Islington. A faint tan-coloured head to a devil-black body. Cocoa powder on the nose, semi-dry. Blended flavours of oat, coffee, chocolate and earth. Slightly roasted towards the ending. Well bodied. Tasty stout (London 23.09.2014).

Bottle from Ales By Mail [200814]
Pitch black, huge frothy head, over carbonated
Aroma of dark fruits, got a sour note straight away, not good
Taste of dark malts, sour dark fruits, some burnt roast, poor flavour, not right
Palate - Moderate carb, thin to medium body, soft sweet, sour. Finish has some bitter roast, bit metallic
Overall - Massive head when it poured, over carbonated, sour, tasted awful. Thrown out.

Cask at Gunmakers. It pours darkest browb, nr black with a minimal tan head. The nose is rich, roasty, coffee, earth, toast and treacle. The taste is smooth, roasty, toast, big coffee aspect, treacle and charred wood with a short, roasty finish. Medium body and low carbonation. A bit flat unfortunatly, but decent coffee aspect anyhow. Decent.
