Cask at Picture House, Stafford. Pours golden amber with a small off-white head. Malts to the fore in the aroma, plus hints of marmalade. In the mouth it is sweet and fruity with a slightly creamy texture. Flavour has malts and oranges plus a little underlying caramel. Hints of pepper and ginger come through later, leading to a slightly spicy finish. This is decent enough – though I wasn’t expecting such a strong beer from the name !

Half pint; hand-pulled on 5th Sep 2012 in The Crown Inn, Oakengates. Good looking amber brew; with a full white head that stayed the distance. Hops rule the aroma and taste stakes: not your regular golden, citrusy hop brew, this had a depth of flavour and taste because it was a fine blend of hops with a malt content that also showed it’s self nicely. The 4.7% ABV sat well and I would have had another but I was with company and we were on a mission to try a number of pubs and beers on the night in question.
