Cask at the Pembury Tavern, London - shared with Jack. Pours dark brown with a weak, tan foam head. Soured dark malt nose, some dark grapes...this beer is in bad shape. Very tangy flavor, enough to be undrinkable. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Tangy finish, more sour dark fruits and sour malts. Pretty wretched stuff. Quite obviously this beer is not as it should be. I can’t believe the pub would serve it.

Cask at Pigs Ear. Clear very dark brown beer. Residual pale tan head. Light dry palate. Pleasant nose of mildly sour dark chocolate. Smooth palate with mild carbonation. Pleasantly tangy dark malt with a touch of dark malt. Whisper of coffee. Tangy red fruits underneath. Dry finish, mildly bitter. Decent porter.

Cask gravity at The Hop Pole, Easter Beer Festival, Aylesbury, Bucks in the company of Loz, Chris O and Ruth 10-04-09 Pours dark brown with reddy glints with an off-white filmy head. There is a touch of sourness on the nose but only a tiny amount. Some mild coffee and chocolate, this beer started out great, slipped a little but then I started to enjoy it again.
