Alesmith’s Decadence Anniversary Ale was originally brewed in 2005 to celebrate our first decade in business. The brewers at Alesmith had such a great time concocting Decadence that they decided to make it an annual event.

Alesmith 2008 is a traditional English-style Barleywine. Only the finest floor-malted barley and English hops were selected, in addition to a true top-cropping English yeast. Intensely malty and overflowing with flavors of caramel and toffee. Decadence 2008 showcases the very best of this classic English style.

75 cL bottle at the Stone Bistro, courtesy of Dr Bill. Pours hazy dark amber with a small white head. Light wooden and dry hoppy aroma. Smooth fruity and roasted malt favoured. Light cherry fruity note. Lasting fruity and light bitter finish. Lovely.

Entered to celebrate my rating number 13,500. Bottled. An unclear amber beer with a thin orangey head. The aroma is sweet with primary notes of alcohol and sour cherries. The flavor is sweet and sour with notes of alcohol, sour cherries, malt, and caramel, leading to a medium tart finish. Lovely beer. Thanks Dr. Bill for sharing.

Bottle, 12th rating for this beer. Pours with a huge, khaki, tan head over a ruby/leather hued body. Full retention and very good lace. Aroma of brown sugar, pie crust, brandy, toffee, raisins, dark cherries, chocolate and cola. Very nice. Taste is tangy cherry, burnt toffee, rum cake, slight sour note which is odd, tobacco and some bitterness. Syrupy mouthfeel and light carbonation.
