Pours a clear amber colour with a tiny loose head. The aroma is light malts, caramel and a hint of biscuit. A moderately sweet malty taste, sweet toasty malts, caramel, and light citrus flavours and a moderate bitterness.

Bottle from random SPAR in the suburbs of Lancaster. Nice head with good duration. Color is golden. Aroma and taste are malt, hops, fruits, caramel and has a nice bitter finish.

Bottle from Spar store, just outside Lancaster. Clear dark golden with a white head. Aroma is sweet, malty, caramel and light hoppy - citrus and grass. Flavor is medium sweet and moderate bitter. Dry and moderate bitter finish. 090220

Cask at the 4th Olds & Bolds Beer Festival, Footscray Rugby Club, Eltham, April 2018. Amber pour with a white head. Caramel, toffee, lots of malt in the aroma. Citrus, caramel and a splash of orchard fruit in the flavour. Not bad.

On cask at the Continental in Preston. Appearance - amber with a decent head. Nose - light toffee and malt. Taste - more chewy malt and toffee. Palate - light to medium bodied with a creamy texture and a long dry finish. Overall - not very exciting but balanced and drinkable.

Cask at the Cloudspotting festival 2016. Pours clear golden with a thin white head. Aromas of malt, caramel. Taste is chewy malt, toffee, faint herbal note. Balanced finish. Decent enough.

Cask @ Waddington Arms, Waddington. Golden with a small creamy head and a berry sweet nose. Has a crisp texture with an underlying fruitiness.

Re-rate after trying it in 2014. Hopefully this new 'live bottle rating' will change the initial score of '2' a bit higher. 500ml bottle at home on 4th Nov 2017, poured into an Abbot Ale glass tankard, my preferred tasting glass for UK beers. Clear copper/golden pour, white blanket on top. Citrus notes in the nose, hoppy and twiggy alongside the citrus aromas. Taste has some malts as a base, overpowered by the hop content somewhat. A whole lot better than the cask offering in my first rating. Liked this even if there is a citrusy leaning to the brew. Score upped to 3.4. The 4.5% ABV in the bottle compared to the 3.6% cask version may also have played a part. Oh dear this wasn’t great: half-pint at the 2014 Lincoln Beer Festival. Pours a misty light amber with a thin white head, or it did on 23rd May. Very little flavour, aroma or character, mild citrus smell and taste but it just didn’t do it for me, disappointing to be honest. All the other beers seemed to be in good condition and tasty, not sure if this is supposed to be so bland or if it was a rouge barrel.

Tried at the CAMRA Lincoln beer festival 2014. Not a full rating as drunk as part of a whole day session.
