Crisp hops perfectly balance the biscuit pale ale malt to provide a thirst quenching ale with soft citrus( apricot and peach) flavours throughout. Corncrake is named after the rare and elusive bird which enjoys the natural habitats of Orkney.

Bottle from Beers of Europe, online. Pours a glowing orange-gold with small white head, decent lasting top. Aroma is floral, grassy, light toffee malts, metal, hint of fruitiness. Taste of toffee, biscuit, metal, grass, light zestiness and stone fruits come through with a moderate bitter finish. Medium bodied, slightly oily and resinous. A bit mixed.

Bottle from the Orkney Brewery. Pours a clear light golden colour with a medium sized white head. Aromas of citrus fruits, biscuit and floral notes. Taste has more of the same notes with a gentle hoppy bitterness on the finish. Fairly light bodied, soft carbonation and a slightly oily mouthfeel. Overall it is a nice elegant tasting ale.

500ml bottle: BBE June 2020. Bought in Kirkwall and drank on board my cruise liner on 3rd Sep 2019. Light amber body, no head. Mild aroma of both a malty and floral nature, taste leaning towards a malty sweetness with a little hop bitterness in the tail end of each sip.

Gold with a creamy white head that lingers. Soft floral aroma with cereal undertones. Taste is mildly bitter the whole way through. Quite crisp though and with a very clean feel. Refreshing. Body trends light but is not watery. Nothing particularly exceptional in terms of aroma or taste, but it does its thing well. Nice.
