Cask at the Rose Villa Tavern, Jewellery Quarter, Birmingham. Clear brown pour with a bubbly white frothy head. A classic English bitter with a nice malty aroma and lots of chewy malt and bitter in the flavour with a liqourice aftertaste that sets this beer apart from the crowd.

Cask@The Cock Tavern, London. Copper colour, small off-white head. Aroma is fruity, wooden, caramelly and mildly floral notes. Flavour is fruity, wooden, grassy and mild nuttyness as well. Lovely balance, and quite good session beer.

Bottle from Jacks, Westholme Stores Goring-on-Thames, consumed WOMAD Festival, Wiltshire, Friday 27th July 2012 Pours a rather murky dare I suggest muddy brown a little bit of sediment at the bottom. Aroma malty and some fruitiness. Taste is nutty, rustic and earthy, suprisingly authentic bitter from a producer that I would have expected to have put a hoppy slant on this beer. Fine but not one I would seek out in a rush again. A6 A3 T6 P3 Ov12 3.0

Cask at the Craft. Clear amber beer, tidy off white head. Light palate, fairly dry. Nice malts - a light presence but with dark characteristics and a whisper of smoke. Mild but juicy hops that are a little orange - lemon citrus. Finishes dry with a mildy smoky malt aftertaste.

On tap @ the Caley Sample Room Redwillow tap takeover. Pours amber with a decent head. The nose is of very gentle stewed fruit. The taste is of toffee and biscuits. The palate is medium in body and texture, with a dry astringent finish. Overall, a little bit ordinary.
