Sampled draft from Stoom during Oersoep Craft Beer Festival 2015. Black, big mocha head. Nose is huge on roast, mocha, chocolate, big bark, heavy roast. Taste is big chocolate, roasted mocha, licorice, quite burned, charred coffee, charcoal finish,β¦ Charcoal & licorice body. Okay but rather too heavy on the roast, far too much plus it has a bit too much licorice for me but still not too bad.

Tap at Oersoep festival. Black with nice beige head. Lots of coffee, roasted grains, light cognac, quite some oat presence, soft dried stone fruits. Medium sweet with roasted bitter finish. Medium bodied with a bit watery feel.

Draft at the Kaapse Beer festival. Pours near black with a ring tan head. Aroma of roast, soy, dark chocolate, licorice. Flavour is moderate sweet and over moderate bitter. Coffee really coming out in the palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Draft at Kaapse Brouwers. Itβs like drinking a strong coffee, with some notes of malt and nice warming alcohol. The oat works well, gives an extra spicy touch. Good beer, but needs a bit more body.
