A robust and fruity Porter. Heavily hopped with Bramling Cross and Brewers Gold, it has a flavour and aroma which remind you of dark fruits such as black cherries and blackcurrants. The rich mix of chocolate, black and crystal malts ensure that the taste of the hops are enhanced by a contrasting dark chocolate and roasted malt flavour.

500ml bottle purchased as part of a delivery from the brewery and drunk at home. Very dark brown, only slightly translucent with a full beige head. Nice. Sweet chocolate on the nose, a touch of liquorice, suggestion of stone fruit. Tastes quite bitter, scratched malt, strong coffee grounds, medicinal character. Sits with intense bitterness in the finish. Full body with medium carbonation. Won’t be everyone’s cup of tea but I adored it.

Bottle ordered from the brewery. Sharp berries with a damp malty edge form the aroma. Murky cols brown. Thin creamy beige head. Medium bitter. Charcoal and espresso. Peripheral tart berries. Medium bodied. Oily. Flat carbonation. Long astringent finish. Dark Porter... I mean just generally; flavour and all. It's fine. Nought to get excited about though.

Cask at the Wellington - Birmingham. Pours clear, ruby-brown with a light, tan head. The nose holds toasted malts and dried berries. Light to medium sweet flavour, with notes of brown bread, leather, raisins. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Decent balance in the finish, with light roast, cocoa, more leathery fruits. Pretty good stuff.

20th May 2017: cask in The Wellington, Birmingham (before the Cotteridge Tasting). Black/dark brown body, light beige topping. Hedgerow berries in the aroma, dark ones. The taste also has a dark berry flavour, some chocolate and light liquorice notes add to the malty forward brew: tasty.
