A robust and fruity Porter. Heavily hopped with Bramling Cross and Brewers Gold, it has a flavour and aroma which remind you of dark fruits such as black cherries and blackcurrants. The rich mix of chocolate, black and crystal malts ensure that the taste of the hops are enhanced by a contrasting dark chocolate and roasted malt flavour.

Cask at Welly. It pours black with a bubbly light tan head. The aroma is soft, sweet, juicy, berry, dried fruits, jam, cocoa and rich roasted malt. The taste is drying, bitter, charred wood, rich roasted malt, earthy, smoke, resin, burnt pine, alcohol, berry and dried fruits with a drying finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. Pretty punchy and robust. Maybe too drying, but alright.

(Cask at Southampton Arms, Gospel Oak, London, 24 Nov 2016) Dark brown colour, almost black, with brief beige head. Malty, roasted nose with coffee, liquorice, black rye bread and a touch of tamarind. Malty, roasted taste with notes of black coffee, liquorice, cacao, blackberries, tamarind and a generous coffee bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with a certain sweetness. Solid and well made porter. Very nice.

Bottle on holiday in Lyme Regis. Almost opaque dark brown beer, small pale tan head. Palate is light, semi dry and has modest carbonation. Tangy dark malts, some roasty bitterness. Tangy toffee and a little treacle. Pruney dark fruits. Light semi dry finish. A layered and interesting porter.

Bottle courtesy of Peter Fowler (cheers Peter) had this at Shrewsbury Folk Festival, Saturday 23rd August 2014 Pours almost black but tricky to be 100% certain as I am in the Main Stage 2 marquee watching a male American oops.. corection, Canadian folk singer who is very good, but the lights have been dimmed. Taste is roasty, malty but smooth with a little spike edge of bramble berries to add a little fruity tartness. Another very good beer from this brewery. A7 A4 T7 P4 Ov15 3.7
