Inspired by the famous Lakeland fell-walker Alfred Wainwright, our master brewers go the extra mile too. They search near and far for quality English malt and hops and tirelessly craft unique combinations worthy of the Wainwright name, like this delightfully refreshing Golden Beer. Lightly hopped with subtle sweetness, a delicate citrus aroma and a gloriously golden colour. Enjoy

Old rating - On cask at the Lamplighter in Jersey. Pours a dark amber with a white creamy head. Aromas & tastes of flora, grain, grass & malt. Medium body. Mild bitter finish. A good few years since I tried this, feel it's lost something since Thwaites sold the Wainwright brand. Now its just average

From cask at The Cotton Arms, Wrenbury, England, 17.06.22, when on canal boat with my parents. Served with a sparkler. Clear pale golden. Dense and persistent creamy white head and lacing. Aroma and taste of pale malt, yeast, old bread and some kind of decaying citrus and papaya.

Cask at Hogarth’s, Stafford (not listed in RateBeer – it doesn’t deserve to be !). Wasn’t expecting to get a tick whilst slumming it here ! Drunk it many times before of course, but never rated it. Anyway, pours a bright golden yellow with a small white head and good lacing. Just some vague fruitiness in the aroma. In the mouth it has a watery texture with sweet malty flavour. Later on there is a little bitterness and some lemongradss. Finish is sweet. It’s a semi-macro that’s as bland as hell, but otherwise not a bad beer.
