Envious is a unique beer, a hybrid of many techniques. Its high-gravity malt-fermented base is blended with Michigan pear juice and chardonnay yeast for a second fermentation, before being aged with raspberries and oak. Unlike any style or beer before it, it must be tasted to be appreciated.

From the January 2014 3R6P tasting +++ Sampled from a 750 ml brown bottle this beer poured a black color with red highlights and a medium sized foamy red-tan head that faded and left minimal lacing. The aroma was chocolate, vague berries and vanilla cream. The flavor was cocoa, malt, malted milk, vague berries, vanilla cream and soy sauce. Medium length finish. Moderately full bodied. Odd.

Bottle thanks to Matt. Pours a cloudy amber with small off white head. The aroma is grape jam and funk. Medium mouth with nice jam raspberry, oak and sweet finish. Good.

22 oz. bottle, 2012 vintage from Binny’s, Lincoln Park Location. Light pink/ lavender type color. Nose is simply raspberry, all I get from the aroma. Flavor is real simple. Raspberry puree, pear hints and light traces of wood. The flavor is ok. Body is really light with a bit of prickly carbonation. Its light a fruit spritzer.

Purple hues. Nose is fruity and acidic like peach skin. Fruity but the malt is rotten like old oak. It’s pretty drinkable best split 3.2/5

Bottle: 2012 vintage Pours dark, cloudy, cola brown with a small tan head. Raspberry, fruit wine aroma..... Taste is as advertised....raspberry, pear, grape.... Subtle, well managed oak notes.... a nicely balanced fruit beer. Very good.

On tap at the bocktown. Way too expepsive! Nice dark pour. but not black. Slight volatile aroma. Odd mild tart commencement. Seems a bit high on the alky. Ropey and leather. Some farmy in there too. Mild co2, very mild. Interesting wine soaked fruit in the background. Unique fer sure.

2011 Bottling. Pours a clear deep chestnut under a fleeting off-white head. Fresh berry aroma. The flavor is lightly sweet on the front with tart berries coming in at the back along with some alcohol.
