Bottle 50 cl. Clear golden, lacing white head. Subtle greasy hops. Medium body, fruity, bitter finish. Harmless hoppy Golden Ale if way overrated. 180719

Bottle from Tomlinson’s, Inverness. It pours lightly hazy golden with a small white head. The nose is grainy, dull sweetness, porridge, light toast and faint citrus. The taste is crisp, sharp, some astringenncy, plain pale malts, citrus peel, toast, sparkling water and metallic twang with a dry finish. Light-medium body and prickly carbonation. A bit watery. Just what I always wanted.... a malt-driven pale ale. Not.

Bottle from Provenance Wines. Clear pale golden body with a thin white head. Very little carbonation. Light lacing. Aroma of grain, lightly roasted malt and lemon. Flavour is similar and lacking in complexity. Low bitterness. More of a Golden Ale than an IPA. Rather dull.

Bottle from some shop in Biggar [260113]
Light amber, clear, frothy white head
Aroma of soft citrus dull lemony hops, light fruity pale malts
Taste - light sweet pale malts, very soft bit tangy lemony citrus hop, simple flavour, flavour fades in the middle, not much structure
Palate - soft carb, light body, slightly oily. Finish is a tad bitter with a sour tangy lingering note
Overall - Probably designed for easy drinkability, but it’s underflavoured for it’s abv - it’s a bit boring imho. Just OK

50cl bottle from Appellation Wines. Pours golden with some bubbles and some lace. The nose is mostly malty and not the hop-influenced beer I’d expected, though there is a fennel note that comes through on the end. The taste is more of the same really - malt with just a little fennel. The palate is light to medium in body and texture with a dry astringent finish. Overall, it’s so so!

Bottled@chriso. Golden colour, small white head. Aroma is fruity, bready, herbal and a bit salty notes as well. Flavour is fruity, floral, mild honey and some slight herbal notes. Balanced and quite nice flavour in this golden ale.
