Kingsdown Ale is the strongest of our regular beers but is a brother to 3B as it comes from the same mash. It retains a strong character of its own, however, with its rich colour, ripe fruit 'nose' and that traditional Arkell's hoppiness. You can taste the malt too, along with a bitter-sweet finish and fruit notes.

Bottle from Scopey. GBBF 2015. Clear chestnut lasting beige head. Juglandaceous beer. Smells of walnuts. Slightly aged but not overly oxidised. Raisins sherry. It’s alright. Mad but alright wow.

Bottle 500ml. clear glass. [ As Arkells Kingsdown ].ABV: 4.8%. Clear medium to light dark amber colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting to diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, light toffee and cardboard. Flavour is moderate to light light heavy sweet and light moderate bitter with a average to long duration, malt extract, caramelized malt - brown sugar. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, oxidide, plume, medera. Flavor is moderate sweet with a average duration, medera, plume, thin, pale malt, caramel. Bottled@chriso. Amber colour, small off-white head. Aroma is fruity, caramelly, toffeeish and mild resiny notes. Flavour is fruity, wooden, resiny and quite bitter with some mild floral notes.

Bottle from Waitrose, Cirencester. Deep copper in colour with a lacy, off-white head. Aroma of sweetmalts, hedgerow fruit and some earthiness. Sweet, malty flavour with a lot more fruit and bitter hop finish. A good bottled beer - streets ahead of the Tanglefoot sampled earlier in the day.

Bottle conditioned. Slightly cloudy chestnut colour with a beige head, despite careful pouring; strong malty aroma; smooth and malty with a slight bitterness to finish. Rather one-dimensional.

Bottle, Picked up by friend in Asda 22-09-06.copper coloured beer that had a sweetish aroma and was very malty and sweet in the taste, whilst a pleasant enough beer it wasn’t the most memorable I’ve had.

Bottled. Copper color, no carbonation and an off-white head. Sweet caramel nose. Caramel, hops, malt and hints of fruits in the flavor. Medium body. Malty sweetness and nice hopping in the finish. A lovely beer. (060720)
