Cask-conditioned at the Commercial Rooms (JDW), Bristol 15 April 2023. Copper in colour with a slight, off-white, head. Caramel, red berries, bready, slightly toasted malts, leading to a boozy, rich, finish. Good.

500ml bottle from Rock Villa, Beer, Seaton, Devon. Poured a dark amber, copper colour with a short-lived, frothy off-white head. The aroma is malt, caramel, woody hops. The flavour is over moderate bitter, with a smooth, rich, malt, toffee caramel, herbal, big woody hop bitter palate and a long bitter finish. Over medium bodied with average to soft carbonation.

Bottle from Sidmouth Wines, Sidmouth. Darker amber in colour with a small bubbly head. Has a strength with a tasty fusion of sweetened dark malts and light roasted ones. Its nose hides this and you’d think its just an ordinarily sweetened bitter from its aroma.

Very hazy amber beer with a tidy cream coloured head. Palate is smooth with a light carbonation. Smooth malt, touch of dry cream. Light tangy dried fruits. Whisper of bubblegum. Fairly neutral finish. Not bad.
