Draft. Clear dark amber color with a small beige head and good retention. Nice nutty aroma. The taste matches the nose. Nice, smooth nutty brown ale flavor, but the finish isn't really clean. Maybe slightly sour finish. Still pretty good.

Bottle from Appellation Wines Comely Bank. Appearance - deep brown with orange tints. Decent head. Nose - nuts and sweet malt. Taste - toffee and nuts. Palate - close to medium bodied with a creamy texture and a fairly good finish. Overall - decent example of the style.

Bottle. A- Blood, iron, watery, dough, malty. A- Rich mahogany color, clear liquid, tan head. T- Dough, watery, malty, weak. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, malty finish. O- This one smelled like a ball of dough that someone was baking then sliced their finger and bled into the batter. Besides this it felt like an all around run of the mill brown. Pretty generic.

Purchased at Binny’s in Chicago, IL; enjoyed at home recovering from frustrating work. Meh, this isn’t very good. Appearance is a syrupy dark brown, relatively clear, not much head. Aroma of chocolate malt and caramel. Taste is more syrupy than anything, moderate carbonation, like a light chocolate soda, it’s just not very good.

Bottle, Chester Beer & Wine. Dark brown pour. What aroma? Oh dear rank metallic taste. Drain pour. A waste of time importing dross like this. Buster Bloodvessel is much fatter than that as well.

Clear dark brown beer, little pale tan head. Smooth dry palate with fine carbonation. Lactose dry malt, little cream. Slightly tangy fruits and a trace of coffee and indeed some nuts! Smooth dry finish. Not bad.

12 oz bottle that was part of the Winter 2012 World Market 9 pack, courtesy of my in-laws. "Bottled on" is unmarked / un-notched on the label. The pour is mostly dark brown with some copper highlights. The 1/2 inch light tan head falls quickly. The aroma is nutty malt, a bit of maple sweet and then a somewhat dirty earthiness. The taste is is the syrup sweet malt up front, then the nuttiness, than the earthiness that shows a hint of roast as well as the dirt. The after taste goes back to caramel maple sweet. The palate is medium to light bodied, below average carbonation and the sweet finish. Not terrible, though I prefer a less sweet brown ale.
