Cask at the Wellington Arms, Bedford. Standard golden colour. Not a lot of head. Very slight floral and gooseberry aroma. Taste is harsh. A bit acrid and astringent. Thin, flat body. Rudgate is such an inconsistent brewery. They can produce excellent beers but then they make something like this. Shame really.

36th CAMRA Cotswold beer festival (July 2012) in the lovely 15th century Tithe Barn: the setting for my tasting of this beer. Gravity poured half-pint: golden orangey body with a thin white head. The smells were a blend of mild toffee and summer fruits, the taste similar with a hoppy bitter dryness towards the end of each sip. An OK beer but no real punch to its flavours, expected more from a beer name ‘Viking’ even if it is only a 3.8% brew.
