Aspen Brewery’s 10th Mountain Imperial Stout is just what you need after a cold day in the Elk Mountains. Eight types of malt and a blend of English and American hops were masterfully combined to create a decadent beer worthy of sipping by the fire or sharing with friends on top of Highlands bowl. This brew pours black as a cold winter night and, at 87 IBU and 9.3% ABV, it’s powerful enough to keep you warm, too. Cheers!

We would also like to recognize the 10th Mountain Division of the U.S. Army as a source of inspiration for 10th Mountain Stout. The 10th Mountain Division used the mountains around Aspen as training sites in preparation for World War II. Following the war, many of the skiing soldiers returned, and helped place Aspen on the map as a ski town.

Sample during "Ellen's Blue Hair Birthday Bonanza!" on 12/12/2014. This brew pours a dark brown with a medium thick foamy tan head that diminishes gradually. Patchy lacing on the glass. Roasted malt, chocolate and coffee in the nose. Medium to full body with flavors of charred malt, dark chocolate and black coffee. The finish is roasty with a chocolate malt aftertaste. Above average overall.
