Bottle, 22oz, from trade with Papsoe. A dark brown beer, lightly unclear and topped by a minimal sized off-white head. Lightly smoked, ham-like flavor with toffee and some vinous notes. Chocolate too. The flavor has some sweetness, but it’s mostly dryish. Piney hops, some grassy notes and a hint of orange peel too. Lasting finish with lots of chocolate, some coffee and ham, and a little touch of bitterness and a solid dose of pine cones. Not your average black IPA, but nice anyway. 130420

Opaque black - brown beer. Big big pale tan head. Palate is crispy with sharp minerals. Creamy dark malt - a little ’brown’ in character. Touch of caramel and super mild roast, slightly bitter. Traces of red berry fruits and pine hops. Unsweet dark chocolate. Crispy finish. Semi bitter aftertaste from both hops and roast malt. Hangs together well.

Thanks Secret Santa! Pours and oaky dark brown. Black in the glass. 1 finger coffee coloured head. Nose is very roast! Lots of cocoa, chocolate, coffee. Smells more like a porter than an IPA. Taste is interesting. Loads of chocolate and fresh espresso beans. Hint of hop bitterness at the finish, certainly has that German hop taste. The roastiness is sticking around forever.
