Bottle opened on the bus ride from Orlando to Tampa Bay Brewing Co. Pours dark brown with light tan head. Very caramelly aroma with some pine hops. Bitter pine hop flavor with some toasted maltiness. Medium body with average carbonation. Thanks to KP for sharing this one.

bottle thanks to KP pours dark brown to black with medium off white head. Aroma is chocolate with mellow floral hop notes. Very roasty malt flavor with evergreen and spruce hop flavors finishing dry.

Draft at Brewvival: No noticeable aroma. Cloudy brown, medium yellow head, good lacing. Dirty mud and bark flavor, not very hoppy. Rather like a strong black lager. Alcohol unavoidable. Not one of the better "india black ales".

22 ounce bottle from Vintage Cellar in Blacksburg, VA. Pours a dark orange brown color with small floating particles. Thin head with fair head retention and decent lacing. Aroma of floral and citrus hops, chocolate, caramel and faint roastiness. Taste is bitter resinous hops with nutty roasty notes and a bit of caramel. Smooth, medium bodied and pretty good.

Aroma: Nose of chocolate, roasted malts, toast, caramel, pine, citrus, and nuts
Appearance: Dark brown beer with a minimal tan head and spotty lace
Flavor: Taste is roasted malts and bittersweet chocolate mostly, some bitterness
Palate: Medium-full bodied beer with soft carbonation and a bit astringent, booze are well-hidden
Overall Impression: This one only has a few ratings thus far, looks like a relatively new offering. I wouldn't describe this as a DIPA/IIPA at all. It kind of has the feel of a porter, it isn't what I would call a hoppy beer. I think I would like this beer more if they hadn't tried to sell it to me as an IPA, so I'm taking off a bit from the overall for that. It doesn't fit the style at all, but it is pretty good.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown with a very thin head and aromas of brown sugar, peat, a little bit of resin. Flavor has quite a bit of dark malt sweetness-- chocolate, brown sugar, peat-like smokiness, a bit of resiny hops and a nice chocolate aftertaste. This is one of the more interesting black IPA style beers I’ve had.
