Sixex pours a tempting dark mahogany with illuminating ruby highlights and a full, creamy head. With wafts of toasted malts, caramel and fruitcake, the use of rich crystal and dark malts lead to a distinct roasted flavour with hints of chocolate, toasted sugars and coffee.

This strong ale is a divine choice for the autumn and winter months - if you’ve got a cosy fire and comfy armchair at your disposal, you’re on to a winner. A consistent winner of top awards, Sixex is a true champion ale.

Bottle thanks to Daniel. It pours deep brown with a small beige head. The nose is toasty, bitter-sweet, dark fruits, berry skin, toffee and toasty sugars. The taste is smooth, bitter-sweet, berry yoghurt, plum skin, dark fruits, raisin, fruit cake, date and some jamminess. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Pretty juicy and fruity. Not bad.

Tropical Croydonia Bottleshare. Thanks to Dan. Almost clear deep brown - amber beer, small pale tan head. Palate is airy with modest fine carbonation. Light malt cream, touch papery. Modest floral bitterness. Light dry finish. Not delivering much for it’s abv.

Bottle shared in London - thanks to Daniel, a real player. Pours deep amber-brown with a creamy off-white head. Rich fruity aroma, grapes, berries. Medium sweet flavor with rich berries, some toffee, raspberry seeds, bread. Medium bodied kith average carbonation. Finishes somewhat sweet with more berries, earthy bitterness, berry seeds and skins. So so.

Negra, ligeramente rojiza. Casi opaca. Rica.

Dark amber with reddish shades. Rapidly disappearing tan head. Aroma yields coffee, tobacco, caramel, plantain, iodine. Lacking sourness, body and persistence. Bah.

Bottle from Morrisons. Drunk on a train. Malty aroma. Like brown malt. For a strong beer it’s quite thin. yes malty. Some hop on the finish. Malty is about all I can say. Like lots of brown malt but with a thin finish. Disappointing.

50cl bottle from Morrisons, Bracknell. A attractive deep reddish chestnut colour with a thick creamy beige head; the aroma has some raisins and demerara sugar, and also some damp earth; the mouthfeel is creamy with a complex blend of flavours - some bittersweet chocolate, some purple fruit, coffee and raw cane sugar, all balanced by a pleasant bitterness; and rounded off by a dry, warming, nutty finish. Rather good.

Appearance is very dark brown, light brown edges, off-white head which disappears quickly. Aroma- caramel, a bit of chocolate, dark malts, raisin. Taste- dark fruit undertones, chocolate, caramel, roast malt, some carbonation to clear things up. Nice brew.
