A strong interpretation of an Irish Red Ale. Part of the batch has been aged in wheat whiskey barrels, and then reintroduced adding subtle wood and vanilla nuances.

Ruby red bordering on brown, small beige head. Big bready, doughy sweet chewy malts. This is bordering doppelbock territory. As soon as the big malts die down, there is a nice shot of roasted nuts, and some herbal woodiness. Body is a little thick, and the carb is a tad low, but im not surprised. The finish is nutty, roasty, and sweet. It’s all wrapped in a sweet woody, malty blanket, quite nice!

Beautiful notes of toasted and buttered bread, a few hazelnuts, vanilla and caramel make up the elements of a well malted olfactory. Small beige foam rather sparkling that descends quickly. Absolutely clear copper amber liquid. Taste is caramelized, with notes of toasted hazelnuts, toasted bread, with a wood shaving base and an earthy bitterness at the end. Whisky's barrel aging leaves no notes. The finish is dry and with leafy and earthy notes. Excellent example of style, although the partial aging in barrel of Whisky and the addition of wood and vanilla did not yield much more. This red poured just that, a deep red colour with a creamy, off white head. Nice lacing. Scents include malt, caramel and a little must. First swig was a little thin but flavourful. Tastes of caramel, metal and must. Finish is malty with minimal hop bitterness lingering.

Not much to say here except this isn't an irish ale and wasn't worth my time to do a detailed rating

600ml bottle. Pours a slightly hazy red with a medium, creamy, long lasting, beige head that laces nicely. Sweet aroma of bready malt, caramel, toffee, whiskey and oak. Sweet flavour of toasted malt, caramel, toffee, bread, vanilla and oak with warming whiskey in a dry, mildly bitter, rich finish. Medium body with a creamy, smooth, oily texture and soft carbonation. Tasty, a very nice Irish ale.

Poured from the tap. Hazy dark reddish brown with off white head. Caramel malt and toasted malt with mild bready malt and toffee. Almost reminds me of a grimbergen dubbel with slightly less sweetness and a dollop of toasted malt.

Hazy amber-brown. Toasty, with a ready character. Has a caramel, slightly toasty character. OK, so not much complexity.
