Almost black with a large foamy brown head that left great lacing. Molasses, caramel, raisin and cherry notes. Exceptionally long finish. Full bodied. Alcohol well controlled for being 13%

Bottle from 2011, cellared carefully. Pours hazy red/chestnut, medium tan head, dissipates fairly quickly, some lacing. Aroma is rich, malty, vanilla, dark sugars, toffee, brown sugar, bourbon, oranges. Flavor is fully sweet, light bitter, light astringence, sweet and sticky, pine, orange, date. Lingering bitterness.

Bottle @ weekly tasting shared with Dutchdrebus and Joes. Dark red-brown color with a medium sized beige head that diminishes fairly quickly. Aroma is malts, bourbon, wood, nuts, (Dutch) "stroop". Taste malts, again "stroop", bourbon, lightly wood, nuts, figs, some alcohol. Full body, decent carbonation.

3rd October 2014
Opaque dark brown beer, small pale tan head. Nice nose of dark toffee, bourbon and dark fruits. Smooth and airy palate with perfectly pitched mild fine carbonation. Airy rich malts, dark toffee. Good bourbon. a little spicy but not that much heat. Malts cream. Mild dark fruits. Smooth finish. A rich and heady beer, very nice!

Bottle thanks to Will. Pours a dark brown with small beige head that diminishes to nothing. The aroma is raisin malt, oak, and caramel. Medium mouthfeel with sweet raisin malt and caramel with light bitter finish. Good.

22 ounce bottle into snifter, bottled 9/7/2011. Pours an extremely dark brown/almost black color; with a 1 finger foamy khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a ring of lace and spotty bubbles that linger. Slight foamy lacing on the glass, but at 13.4%, this is expected. Aromas of big caramel, raisin, prune, fig, toast, toffee, grape, molasses, chocolate, vanilla, bourbon, oak, earth, leather, and light rye spiciness; slight alcohol as it warms. Damn nice aromas with great complexity and balance of maltiness and barrel character. Taste of huge toffee, caramel, raisin, prune, fig, molasses, toast, oak, bourbon, vanilla, chocolate, earth, tobacco, leather, and light rye spiciness. Minimal bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of toffee, toast, raisin, prune, fig, caramel, molasses, oak, bourbon, vanilla, chocolate, leather, and light rye spiciness on the finish for a good bit. Fantastic complexity of malty flavors with a great complimenting balance of the barrel character; with nearly zero cloying flavors noticed after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and very full bodied; with a very creamy, slick, and fairly syrupy mouthfeel that is fantastic. Alcohol is insanely well hidden at 13.4% with only a small warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a highly fantastic barrel aged barleywine with fruit juices! The flavors from the fruit juices are not overpowering, and the malt complexity of the barelywine is highly complex. Very smooth to sip on as well for the gravity. An incredibly enjoyable offering.

Bomber received in trade. Thank you Claspada. Pours very dark reddish brown with a mocha head that quickly dissipates without leaving much trace on the glass while dissipating. Smell is sweet with sweet dark bread, caramel, whisky, rye flour, wood, vanilla fudge, figs, prunes, alcohol, toffee, lemon zest and hay. Taste is very sweet, malty and fruity with sweet dark bread, figs, prunes, alcohol, whisky, roasted coconut, burnt caramel, toffee, wood, raisins and lemon zest. Mouthfeel is smooth, creamy, slightly boozy and near full bodied. Finish is sweet and malty with sweet dark bread, figs, prunes, dark cherries, wood, roasted coconut and caramel. Quite nice...
