The style is Rauchweizen or Smoked Weizen.

Draft courtesy of the Dieu crew, thank you gentlemen. Smoked bananas! What a great flavor for a beer. Not over the top, but subtle and balanced. A winner.

On tap at CBC 2012. Hazy golden with a small head. This was an interesting combo of a smoked beer and a weizen. I liked it. Wood, smoke, some light brett, citrus and wheat. Medium on the palate.

Sample @ Copenhagen Beer Celebration. Pours tiny hazy pale golden with a white head that quickly dissipates while leaving a small trace on the glass. Smell is sweet and malty with bread, wood, smoke, banana bread, lemon zest and cloves. Taste is sweet and sour with wheat crackers, smoke, wood, ash, cloves, white pepper, lemon juice and lemon zest. Mouthfeel is crisp, tiny tart and medium bodied. Finish is sweet, sour and malty with wheat crackers, smoke and lemon zest.

Tap: Poured a hazy light yellow color ale with a small foamy head with OK retention. Aroma of smoked malt with light wheat malt notes as well. Taste is also a nice mix between smoked malt with also light refreshing wheat notes and very light banana bread ester. Body is quite full with good carbonation. Very interesting take on the weizen style. With some very good balance.

A hazy blonde weizen with a thick white head. Weizen aroma with definite smoked herring notes, cloves and bananas. In mouth, a smooth weizen with good smoked notes, ham hocks, wheaty notes, nice and all smooth. Medium bodied. On tap at brewpub, June 20 2010.
