750 ml. bottle sampled @ home. BBF 02/12/17. Paler citrus golden, small creamy white bubbles. Nose is artificial lemon sweet, cleaning products wheat, plastic, chemical wheat beer, bubblegum,... Taste is totally empty flat, mineral watery, faintly sauerkraut, bubblegum, empty lemon wheat, dull Vitamin C,... Empty, plat, bit watery, mineral, bubblegum wheat,... Like a very weak, faintly sour mineral Hoegaarden,... I have no idea how this one differs from the regular one, I seem to be liking it a small touch more.Earlier Rating: 10/6/2014 Total Score: 2.575 cl. bottle sampled @ Modeste 2014. Golden, citrus, little white bubbly head. Nose is strong sour wheat, very lactic, tart, light coriander,… Taste is lactic sour wheat, coriander, tad watery, low carbonation, the sourness feels not okay for me. Witbier’s rarely work for me & this one doesn’t at all.

75cl.

Something not nice in the aroma and flavour. It’s a bit sulphuric. Aside from that it’s a fairly fresh, sharp wit.

Pol Ghekiere’s ’tarwedubbel’, bought from him at La Vieille Forge and consumed at the premises and later at home. Made with pale barley malts, malted wheat, oats, coriander, curaçao and lemon peel, so a bit deviating from the Hoegaarden standard. Stable, off-white, milky head, hazy yellowish blonde colour with slight greenish hue. Fresh aroma of indeed wheat and oats, lemon zest, noticeable coriander, soap; citrussy onset with mild lemon touch and some drying coriander, velvety and smooth mouthfeel, pretty strong carbo, mild aromatically hopped finish, not really bitter. Very pure and refreshing, a lot better than Hoegaarden and its epigones.
