750ml. Thought this was an OK drinker — different and surprising but not something I’d hunt for again. Long-lasting, off-white head. Cloudy, dark ice-tea body. The moderate aroma is tart with notes of lemon and rye bread and a hint of sugar. The flavor is lightly to moderately sweet and moderately tart (sour cherry) and dry in the finish. The buckwheat (I assume that’s what the grainy, slightly spicy taste is) lingers in the finish. Light to medium body with a watery texture. Lively carbonation.

ZBF2008: From bottle. Pours dark brown with a little light tan head. Aroma is mild spiced caramel malt with a mild smooth chocolate note. Light roasted malt flavour, subdued sweetness and a mild yeasty. Light malty and yeasty lingering finish.

250ml bottle as Boekweit Bruin/Sarasin Brune. Off-white, big foamy head over a faint hazy, mahogany body. Brown sugar, slightly roasted, supported by spicies and malts. Moderate foamy mouthfeel. Rather short tail (27.11.2007).

Bottle, 6%. BB 2006, last year. Roasted aroma, slightly creamy. Very dark brown colour. The flavour starts off sweet, and has a distinct iron/vitamin drink flavour. Creamy mouthfeel. Coconut aftertaste. Actually not too bad.

250 ml bottle, as "Leireken Bio Boekweit Bruin / Sarasin Brune", now available in Norway (Vinmonopolet, bestillingsutvalget), at an outrageous price. ABV is 6%. BB date end of 2007. Organic beer. Dark brown coloured beer, huge tan head. Moderate aroma of malts with hints of red wine vinegar, caramel, oak and spices. Moderately malty flavour but fairly dry, with hints of oak and spices. Decent enough, but not worth the high price in Norway.

750 ml bottle. Dark brown body with a beige head. Aroma is sweet caramel malt, maybe some candy sugar and overripe apples. Flavor is mild, malty, slightly roasted, not very bitter with a fruity freshness. Not bad, but not to exiting.
