There are burnt currants and roast notes on the aroma, leading to a full-bodied beer with roast, dark fruits (hints of damson perhaps?) and plum pudding vying for attention. All this leads to an enjoyable dry finish. Overall, an entertaining combination of lightness and depth.

Bottle. Beer Stop, Dronfield. Clear, very dark brown. Barely a head, but what there is, sticks to the glass. Nose has dark chocolate. Woody, earthy malts. Dark, dried fruit, along the lines of dates or prunes. Not lacking spicy hop. Imperial stout wouldn’t be my first guess. Maybe a bit porter-ish. Taste is fruity, burnt bitter. Bit of sweet on the lips. Feels a little thin. Burnt bitter finish. Not full or rich enough. Overly bitter, too.
