0.33 l bottle at home, thanks to Áron for this one. Pours jet black and short lived, beige head. Nose is a big fat cocoa powder and chocolate of a beauty with hints of fruit. The taste actually perfectly reconstructs the aroma: there's chocolate, cocoa, fruits and some warming booze, too. Short chocolate-y, alcoholic finish, soft carbo, medium to heavy body. Excellent brew, and it could be even better if it was a bit more complex.

Aroma of roasted malt, dark chocolate, fruits, some coffee. Flavour is sweet with a moderate roasty bitter finish. Slightly boozy, smooth and nice full body. Very tasty Imperial Stout.

Black with a tall, firm tan head. Bold roasted malt, a bit of burnt malt, cocoa, light soy sauce, molasses, earthy hop notes, light spice notes. Body is lighter than I expected- it’s almost thin but not quite. Savory and charred malt finish. Has a layer of sweet over everything though it doesn’t come across as a sweet stout. It’s quite an interesting beer. Has many of the hallmarks of a classic Impy stout yet it comes across somewhat unbalanced with an aroma and mouth that don’t really come together as they should. Its tasty enough, but not something to inspire awe.

A nice throwback to a classic style that no one brews anymore, and imperial stout with nothing but malt and hops in it. Lorien mallorca

Review based on the BJCP2021 guidelines (style 20C). Bottle 33 cl - Batch L20230706 (BB: 06/2026). AROMA: medium to medium-high fruity notes (orange rind) followed by medium roasted malt (cocoa) and alcohol (rose-like). APPEARANCE: very dark brown color and opaque. medium-low brown head, creamy, with good retention for style. leg formation. TASTE: initial medium estery notes similar to the aroma (orange-like) followed by medium alcohol (rose-like). medium roasted malt in the background with chocolate-like character. medium bitterness with a dry and slightly roasty finish. MOUTHFEEL: medium-high body and velvety. medium-low carbonation. alcoholic warmth noticeable. slight astringency. OVERALL: an imperial stout with fermentation issues that distract from the base malts.

330ml bottle bought at La Boutique de la Cerveza - Estucerveza.com in Valencia. Bubbly, tan head over a coal black body, rings of lace down the glass. Inviting aromas of roasted dark malts, bread and earthy chocolate. Dark malt-forward taste of chocolate, liquorice, and syrup. Roasted chocolate malty finish, earthy. Warming on the swallow. Decent sipper on a Friday eve. A bit heavy to drink, though. (Apartment, La Vila Joiosa, 23.02.2024).

Tap at La Pirata Malasaña, Madrid, Spain. Pours black, with very fine cream foam. Aroma is intense, with coffee, salty licorice, some vanilla, dark chocolate. Body is thick, with good tickling carbonation, maybe even excessive, given the type of beer. Taste is violently roasty, with some sweetness too. Leaves quite some salivation, with a long final.

330ml bottle. Jet black colour with slightly late awakening, small, thick, creamy, moderately lasting and lacing, tan head. Intense, roasty, sweet-ish, chocolately, dark malty aroma, notes of molasses, treacle, dark chocolate, Belgian chocolate, a touch of tar. Taste is sweet-ish, chocolately, roasty, dark malty, notes of dark caramel, burnt caramel, dark chocolate, a touch of tar, rust, iron, a fruity touch of blueberry and blackberry, cherry liqueur, minimally metallic overtones; minimally warming, alcholic finish. Viscous texture, smooth and soft, creamy palate, fine and soft carbonation. Harmonious and balanced, dangerously drinkable due to the fruity part - very nice.
