A Rauch Beer lager brewed in the true Bamberg tradition. Smooth, assertive and well balanced. This beer was the winning recipe from the Norwegian homebrewer’s championship in 2011. We appreciate the fact that Erlann Eldorsen came to brew with us! Ingredients: Pilsnermalt, peated malt, crystal malt, Munich malt, hallertau and Tettnang hops, German lager yeast and Grimstad water.

My mouth is on fire from a sandwich, so forgive my dead tatesbuds. It's good.

Bottle @ Greg’s apartment, picked up in StL I believe. Pours a dark brown appearance with a creamy brown head. Light smoke, chocolate, herbal hoppy, caramel aroma. Pretty thick malty, chocolate, roasty, peat smoky flavor with a bit of ash and swamp on the finish.

Bottle split at JF’s, from Bitter Virtue, 23/08/13. Dark mahogony brown with a big ole light tan head. Nose is malty, light rausch, toffee, touch metallic, mineral notes. Taste comprises burnt cocoa, a greater depth to the smoke, ash, dark toffee, mineral notes, subtle background hoppage. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, dry finish with light smoke. Decent rausch affair, drinkable and not overpowering!

Opaque black - brown beer, tidy pale tan head. Nose of mild malt cream and a whisper of smoke. Smooth palate, a little soft. Quite a candy fruit start balanced by the mellow smoke that integrates well. Finishes soft and semi dry with a mellow smoke aftertaste. Nice smoky beer.

Bottle, provided by Travlr while at Churchkey. Thanks Gene! Poured a dark brown color, with a small dark tan head. Aroma was some nice roasted notes, with some dark malts. Flavor was some light bitter coffee notes, chocolate. Smoke isn’t too overpowering, pretty enjoyable.

Bottle. Rich smoked malt, woody, earthy peat, fruity caramel aroma. Deep mahogany with a small beige head. Woody and meaty smoked malt flavor with a little bit of fruit. Medium body, light carbonation, easy drinking. Nice and smoky, but not so much that it tips over into acrid.
