Isis is synonymous with rowing. It is the name given both to the River Thames as it flows through Oxford and to one of Oxford University’s rowing boats that competes in the epic clash simply known as "The Boat Race". The origin of Isis Pale Ale lies in English IPAs and American Pale Ale. This beer has been crafted with fruity European hops to complement Crystal and golden malted barleys, then dry hopped with American citrus hops for an excellent finish. Isis Pale Ale is a transatlantic tipple that, like the best boat race crews, is truly greater than the sum of its parts.

Bottled (from Beers Of Europe). Amber colour, small white head. Aroma is buttery, fruits, some wood, vanilla and caramel in a very strange mix. Flavour is rather bitter fruity and floral notes going quite sweet fruityinto the finish. Also some mild buttery notes.

Short-lived, small yellowish head over big bubble-carbonated foxy orange beer. Bit oxydized cookies and lots of caramel, evne toffee, treacle. Quite bitter taste, despite the toffee-caramel flavour, that makes up the finish. Never sweet, though, aftertaste is actually quite bitter. This bitterness is however indifferent, not hoppy in character. Quite slick, but medium bodied at best. Well-carbonated feel. Might be aged (prematurely?) somewhat - no BBdate visible. I’m still searching for the citrus hops mentioned on the label...

Cask gravity at Reading BF 2011. Hazy pale brown colour. Lasting near white head. Now that is slightly odd. Ester banana with citrus biting hop on finish. Odd mix of a wheat beer with US hops. Bizarre.

Bottled. An amber beer with a thin orangey head. The aroma has notes of malt and spicy hops. The flavor is sweet with notes of matl, straw, hops, and spices, leading to a dry and bitter finish. Thanks yespr for sharing.

Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of yespr. Pours a clear deep golden with a rough off-white head. The nose has caramel amd some British hops. Medium body, some overripe fruit - even comes out a little oxidized. Dry and hoppy finish. 050111

Bottle from Bellingers Jet Garage, Grove, Nr Wantage, Oxon, 18.10.10 consumed 20.10.10 Pours amber with a touch of orange glinting in there, white head and busy carbonation. This is initially a little sweet on the nose and in the mouth also a bit cardboardy at first though there is a very decent orangeyness to this with hops striking out more and more as you get down the bottle. Another fine if unremarkable beer from Compass, someday soon they may make a beer that will challenge and excite just a little more. A6 A3 T6 P3 Ov13 3.1
