Had a few bottles of this in the late 90's, early 00's ... usually at crap pubs where you have to put your trust into this over the cask offerings. The Courage Light is usually found gathering dust on a shelf just above floor level, behind the bar, in a pub without a competent cellar man such as Terry. Lower boost than normal bitter ... easy to drink but not much going on .... at least it was a way to avoid the vinegar water in crap pubs of old.

275ml bottle as part of a Morrisons beer pack of 4 traditional ales for £4. Light brown, small off-white head, reasonable retention. Aroma of grass, straw, some citrus, quite light. Taste is caramel, straw, light hop, hint of vanilla. Light to medium bodied. As I review, this is in the worse 2% of ordinary bitters. Its not a great bitter but its not that bad. Its a bit basic but I quite enjoyed the caramel flavour and its far from watery.

Bottle, 330 ml at The Four Ashes, Takeley. Pours amber with off-white head. Malty caramel and very light and bland. Not something I’d like to drink again.
