A full-bodied Celtic Red Ale packed with malt and hops. The red colour comes from the inclusion of crystal malt, which lends a sweetness to the beer with its characteristic hints of caramel and nuttiness. The bitter hop finish balances the sweetness of the malt. Citrus notes from First Gold blend with our home-grown Fuggles, evoking blood orange and marmalade.

Rating from bottle collection/historic notes. Bottle bought during a visit to Cornwall. Poured deep amber with a moderate sized off-white head. Aroma of caramel, malt, hop, and fruit. Medium sweetness/bitterness. Medium bodied, slight oily texture, and soft carbonated.

500ml bottle from John’s Beer & Wine, St Ives. Bought partly because of the cool bottle design. Pours reddish amber. Burnished leaves and stale water dominate the taste. Couldn’t finish. Drain pour unfortunately.

500ml clear glass bottle, Beers of Europe. Pours murky copper, no head, floaters. Aromas of stewed apples and golden syrup. Taste is a bit fruitier, some herbal hops. Finishes both chewy, and thin. Not great.

Bottle 500ml (AbM)
Clear amber color, steady beige head, lace. Woody and ashy nose, strange. Light to medium-bodied. Light fruity note, perhaps little amount of crystal malts, some old tasting hops and odd ashy flavor. It must be again the origanic hops or malts used. Something gone to wrong way here. Nutty has become ashy. Old bottle?

Cloudy orange - brown beer. Pretty flat! Watery malt with a lemon grapefruit bittering hop. Complete lack of carbonation lets it down and makes it tea like!
