Wild Pumpkin Ale
Packed with real pumpkins, hints of spice & a gentle kiss of cacao to lighten the soul, this squashy wild ale has notes of cinnamon, pumpkin spice, & everything nice.
Ok, so the joke was Jolly Pumpkin doesn’t brew a pumpkin beer. Well, now we do. Just this one. Guess now folks will have to find something else to joke about…

Reviewed from notes.
Bottle to tulip.
Appearance: glossy burnt orange to slightly red with a finger's worth of white foamy head which dissipated nicely to leave some light lace
Aroma: allspice, cinnamon, cacao nibs with cherries, subtle lemon and oaky funk and then ever so slightly some light pumpkin flesh
Flavor: combines the prior noted aromas to a fine funky sweet to sour and lightly spiced quality and the pumpkin flesh seems to stay right where it is (fairly quaint); finishes with the cinnamon, light cherries, funky oak and a light touch of the pumpkin
Texture: light to medium bodied, this is a sipper; light smoothness along the tongue and light spices do make a decent play against the tongue but that seems to even out with the sour/tart aspects trying to also grind at the tongue
Overall: so much going on with this beer, I'm not exactly sure if I got it all, we'll just call that a summary and hopefully I can get another stab at this some day to see how it changed or maybe if my palate picks up something else, oh and one more thing - this is not your normal "pumpkin ale" folks, I wonder if I should put that part in caps, nah.

Draft from btiger. Pours a light cloudy amber with a smallish white head. Aroma is sour cherries and light cinnamon. Highky carbonated with some cinnamon and pumpkin - pretty much what you’d expect a jolly pumpkin pumpkin to be like.

Can from Livonia Liquor. Pours a clearish orange gold with a finger of off-white fluffy foam that lingers. Barnyard and brett aromas with light lemon and oak aromas on the nose. More of the same on the palate with perhaps some pumpkin. Spice seems muted with real brett and oak notes that dominate. Not overly sour, acidic or vinegary. Just a nice funky fall ale!

16 ounce can. Hazy, amber orange color. Foamy beige head. Aroma is funky farmhouse meets pumpkin spice. Flavor is more of the same. Subtle funk, pumpkin pie spices and bready malt. Nicely done.

Draught and bottles upon release at Deep Ellum. But like many beers back then, I wasn't rating, so here's a rating on draught at Detroit airport, 9/12/22. Moderately hazy, rusty-bronze. Thin, off-white head. Excellent sour/malt balance. Not sure I get any adjunct but that's fine with me. Pretty straightforward house culture character: moderate-to-heavy lactic, low acetic, moderate Brett. Definitely some spice and/or vegetable in the flavor, though I'd be hard-pressed to ID them blind. Otherwise, strong lactic acid, moderate malt (cookie, honey, biscuit), high attenuation. Nice mild tartness with restrained spiciness on the end. Excellent malt and tannin texture. Really glad to see JP's beers are no longer acetic-forward. That was pretty awful for a stretch there.

Draught @ Malt & Mold. Reddish copper with very small frothy off-white head, acidic caramel aroma, low carbonation, medium bitter medium sour caramel taste with faint pumpkin flavor, thin body, long medium sour finish. Interesting brew.

Jolly Pumpkin did it so it's decently done but it's still a bloody pumpkin beer. Pours clear orange with good head and lacing. Pumpkin spice, clove, nutmeg. Light bitter and tangy finish. Not my thing. Tap at Snally.
