A beautiful deep amber colour, this classic Vienna lager has a lovely nutty taste with subtle hop flavour and lingering sweetness.

Can from Beers of Europe. Appearance - golden amber, attractive lacing. Nose - nuts, light toffee and sweet malt. Taste - cake mixture and praline. Some fresh notes too though. Palate - light bodied, balanced creamy middle. Decent freshness on the finish. Overall - I quite like this.

Can new label says “Vienna Lager”: Poured a orange clear with a thin frothy off white head. Aroma is sweet malty. Taste is a sweet butter with malts and a nice carbonated feel. Nice local COOP find.

Keg at Rampant Horse, Needham Market. Vague sour yeasty aroma. Dark amber. A few floaters for a head. Light sweet. Caramel and butter. Some bitterness develops as I drink on (as in the taste, not my emotions). Light bodies. Watery but a certain stickiness to it. Average carbonation. Long boiled veg aftertaste of a finish. Not great but I'll still finish it.

Bottle from 3at3, Ely. Brownish orange, clear with a lot of visible ’supermarket bitter’ carbonation. Crystal malt aroma, with some juicy fruit and a hint of milk chocolate. Taste is sweet, gently malty, with a longer and slightly more bitter finish than I expected. Thin to medium palate. It’s not an amazing beer, but it’s certainly more than passable, and hits that thirst-quenching spot on a warmish late spring day.

Bottle at The Cambridge Chop House, Cambridge (Lozs works Christmas Do) Monday 16th December 2013 Not impressed, the coldness dulls the flavours somewhat which is probably a blessing. Amber in colour, good clarity, bit fruity, a light sour edge just a bit boring and poor. A5 A4 T6 P4 Ov10 2.8

Bright amber beer, tidy white head. Slightly nutty nose. Crisp palate, slightly dry. Very nutty malt - almost walnuts and hazlenuts! Lagerish malt finish. Different! Refreshing and quite tasty.
