The Sultan

bottled. A deep red beer with a huge light tan head. The aroma has notes of hops, caramel, and malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of fruits, malt, and straw, leading to a dary frutiy finish.

Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of joergen. Pours amber with a slight haze and a small off-white head. Sweet overripe fruit and yeast in the nose. Solid body, overripe fruit, loads of metal, yeast and a very hoppy finish. A very odd Quad indeed. 131011

Bottle. Clear reddish brown with a beige head that’s quickly less than a coat. Aroma is fruity and yeasty, with dough and a little cheese,maybe some chocolate. Dried fruits are there, but the sultanas are not all that obvious. Taste has some syrupy fruity sweetness, but sour and bitter spicy flavours come in quickly. The sourness is distracting. After a taste, it shows up as underripe plums in the aroma. Is the funky yeast strain off on a frolic of its own? A bit of a mess.
