Cask. Golden appearance, with a pure white bubbly head. Aroma of hops, summer fruits, spices. Taste is hoppy, slightly tangy and some zest, fruits, hint of spice. Not much ginger around. Nice ale.

Cask @ Old Gate, Hebden Bridge. Golden with a creamy head. Has hops and a small sweetness in its nose. Fairly easy drinking for its strength with a hint of spice, but it’s certainly in the background. Has some ginger in its nose.

Cask at the Claret. it pours clear gold with a medium, foamy white head. The nose is soft, lemon & ginger tea, grapefruit and light doughy sweetness. The taste is bitter, spicy, lemon, grapefruit rind, ginger, mild soap, light sweetness from the malt background and straw with a dry, spiced finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. One of DS’s more average beers, but well-made no-theless.

On cask at the Stockbridge Tap. Appearance - golden with a proportionate head. Nose - flowers and distinctive ginger notes. Taste - honey with more ginger and a fresh citrus finish that still retains some of the honey. Palate - light to medium bodied with a creamy texture and a long dry but spicy finish. Overall - good beer. Any more ginger and it would become one dimensional but it’s just subtle enough.

Cask at the Harbour Inn, Kirkcaldy. Pours clear gold with a thick white head. Spicy nose of ginger biscuits, bit of citrus and grassiness. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Slightly dry finish, with the gingerness lingering at the end for a bit. Very nice.

Cask at the Cock Tavern - Hackney, London. Pours clear gold with a soft, creamy white cap. Certainly some spices in here, and the ginger provides a gentle sting. Sweetness provided by light, biscuity pale malts. Also pleasant notes of lemony citrus and dry straw. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Good condition. Lightly dry to finish with mild spice, straw and more biscuits. Tasty golden ale.
