ORIGINAL RATING – AUGUST 2020 Cask at Standing Order, Derby Pours almost black with minimal head. Nose hads malts, molasses and a hint of milk. In the mouth it is fruity, with blackcurrants to the fore plus malts and traces of dark fruits and chocolate Has a very watery texture though. Finish is more dark fruits. Too much blackcurrant and not enough stout character. (was 6:2:6:3:10 = 2.7) RERATE MARCH 2022 : cask at Mr Grundys, Derby. Pours almost black with small foamy cream head. There’s a vaguely sweet aroma here, with lactose and dark fruits. Roasted malts and berry fruits in the mouth, plus some liquorice coming through later. Tastes a lot better than my original review would suggest – not the first time I’ve had to alter a review I’ve originally made at the Standing Order !

500ml bottle from KellenTay Beer in Derby. Bare naked surface to a pitch black body. Dotted spots to the glassware. Roasted aroma with scents of dark chocolate. Mixed flavour of blackcurrant and dark malts. Medium to thin bodied. Just alright (shared with friends, hotel room 22.02.2015).
