A dark brown body is supported by the light scent of banana, pears, blackberries, vanilla, cloves, warm dark cocoa, fresh coffee and tupelo honey intermingled with malty, toasted nutty flavors. Subdued hop notes round out this strong full-bodied Belgian style Brown.

A reddish brown ale with a thin moka head. In aroma, a pleasan vinous malt with treacle, honey maple, light oxidation notes, but acceptable. In mouth, a nice smooth burned caramel, treacle, molasses, vanilla fudge, very nice well blended. Probably 2 years old. Tasted June 18, 2011.

From tap at Rattle’N’Hum. Pours dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma is roasted dark malty and yeasty, phenolic. Slight spiced, dry malty and light overripe fruity. Bitter and caramelish. Dry and herbal into the finish. Ends slight bitter.

Pours deep mahogany into a Trappist glass. Off-white head with little retention crackles and recedes to hug rim. Fruity pit fruit and biscuit aromas. Sweet dark pit fruit upfront turning to toasted nuts before a lasting earthy yeast finish.

Bomber pours brown with loose mocha head. The modest aroma emits mostly apple with lesser supporting notes of dates, figs and some caramel. The taste is pretty smooth with a mix of brown sugar, red apples, dark sweet grapes, some yeast spices and a thin layer of caramel.

Bottle sample at a tasting. Thanks David Cohen. Clear deep reddish brown. Aroma of malt, brown sugar, caramel and dark fruits. Sweet malty flavor with fruits, caramel, a bit of biscuits, light grainy hints and a dry, slightly alcoholic finish. Medium-bodied.

At a tasting, many thanks David, smallish head, dark burgundy red colour, aroma of cherries, strawbeery and some jamminess, flavour of plums and cherries, but not enough malty backbone, sour bitter aftertaste with some dried fruits in the end, body a tad to light but still quite good.

Bottle, pours medium brown with a reddish tinge. Aroma of caramel malt. Flavour of caramel malts, toffee, brown sugar - more on the sweet side than the dry. Very nicely balanced.

Bottle: Poured a deep brown color ale with a medium foamy head with average retention and some lacing. Aroma consists of lightly sweet caramel malt with some residual candi sugar. Taste is not overly complex with some bland caramel malts with some easily noticeable candi sugar. Body is a bit thin for style with OK carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Lacking some complexity and character with too much sugar.
