A dark brown body is supported by the light scent of banana, pears, blackberries, vanilla, cloves, warm dark cocoa, fresh coffee and tupelo honey intermingled with malty, toasted nutty flavors. Subdued hop notes round out this strong full-bodied Belgian style Brown.

Orange marmelade aroma with definite baby food pear notes. Hazy brown pour, headless. Maltier than expected, medium body. Relatively uncomplex flavor of fig and cookies. Perhaps cinnamon on the palate, but that’s a stretch. Little complexity, but the alcohol is tastefully concealed.

Deep dark brown in colour with strong crimson highlights and a light tan head. Aroma of nuts, spices, fresh hops, a light smoke and a strong caramel scent. Medium-bodied; Odd raisiny sweetness up front with tons of malt & spices noticeable. Aftertaste bittering, but some pit fruit tastes linger long. Overall, a darker and spicier double compared to the norm, but nuts make for more of a brown taste. Good to try! I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Chevy Chase Wine & Liquors in Washington, D.C. on 21-June-2005 at Jon(R888710)’s.

Pour is a brown with an almost flat tan head. Aroma is super sweet with some dark fruit and alcohol. Flavor is some dark fruit with brown sugar and a warming alcohol. A good beer but just ok for the style as there is nothing jumping out at me that would put this over in the excellent category.

Bottle from Lee’s Discount Liquor, Las Vegas
Dark mahogany color, big thick head. It has a good caramel and chocolate aroma, strong body, medium sweetness, chocolate flavor, caramel of course, correct bitterness, alcohol warmth at the end. Maybe a bit too strong, correctly brewed, but without emotions, monodimensional and boring after a few sips.
