Bottle at home in London, procured from Waitrose in Bath. Pours lightly cloudy, matte gold with a good, sturdy white foam head. Aroma holds some semi-ripe banana, crisp orange citrus, some wheaty dough. Light to medium sweet flavor with a pleasant, rounded fruit character, mellow esters, moderate wheat, faint hay and cereal. Light bodied with average carbonation. Crisp, very clean finish, not overly sweet like some hefes, but not overly deep in character either. Restrained wheat, yeast, white bread, light lemon zip and banana, low bitterness. Very easy drinking hefeweizen.

From the UK Aldi chain: Arcobrau Weissbier Hell. 500ml bottle, best before 1st March 2013: poured into a Franziskaner Weissbier glass 9th May 2012. Looks every bit the ideal hefeweizen: cloudy with a deep, full white head: mid-range orange/lemon hue to the colour, just like the best of this style. Wheat aroma with mild traces of vanilla and banana: I prefer fuller smells in this style of beer. Refeshing but lacking in flavour: the first sip told me this was a cheap option. Weak body and taste: below average in all aspects bar the looks.

Bottled. An unclear dark golden beer with an off-white head. The aroma has notes of over ripe bananas, wheat, and a bit of malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of wheat, oranges, and bananas, leading to a dry wheaty finish.
