On cask at the Guildford Arms. Appearance - opaque black with a nice crema head. Nose - dark chocolate and cream. Taste - creamy dark chocolate again. Palate - medium bodied with a creamy texture and a long dry finish. Overall - just lacking a little sweetness in the end but a good beer. It should probably be grouped in the dry stout style.

Dull med brown. No head, looks like crap. Fudgey and quite coffeeish aroma is very expressive. Sort of dry, maybe even a bit harsh. Still, there’s some decent malt complexity and even a dash of British acidity.

Bottle at home in London with Lyoli. Pours clear, dark red-brown with a slight, beige cream head. Nose holds dirt, light cocoa, burnt toast. Light sweet flavor, some dried cocoa, more dirt, earthy bitterness, some leather, hints of dried fruits. Light suggestions of age. Light bodied with fine to average carbonation. Light sweet finish, more toasty, semi-dark malts, dry and chalky cocoa, some burnt leaves, leathery and well ripened dark, dried fruits. There’s a fair bit of nuance here. Nice.

Cask at the Cask, Pimlico - 11/09/12. Dark mahogony brown with a thin tan head. Roast malts, bitter chocolate, touch of coffee in both aroma and taste. Little more coffee comes through in the flavour and a touch of leather. Medium bodied dry finish,

Bottled@Euston Tap, London. More or less pitch black colour, mediumsized beige head. Aroma is toffee, vanilla, mild liquorice, some roasted malts as well as mild ashyness. Flavour is fruity, resiny, roasted malts, ashes and some mild toffeeish notes. A bit like a watered down version of the manifesto.
