Bottle from Gedeelde Vreugde. Pours cloudy black, no head. Strong aroma of earth, walnut shell, chicory, 'raw' liquorice, vanilla, dates, burnt rusk, dried leaves, dark chocolate, vague iron. Taste is a surprisingly different profile: candied date, milk chocolate, dark toffee, brown sugar with a dash of vanilla; the middle carries softly bitter coffee & dark chocolate, spicy liquorice, earth & toasty maltiness, faintest umami olive accent. Dryish, herbal & earthy hoppy finish, with liquorice, brown sugar & coffee coming together again, until heating brown rum-like alcohol washes it all down. Full body, oily-sticky texture, soft carbonation. Weird brew, as aroma & taste are quite far apart. Looking back, it really was a delight to drink, and I think an aged bottle could only 'soften up' the earthy aspect in the aroma. I'll quickly grab this again. For now, big score.

Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a nice large dark brown foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of roasted malt with some black chocolate and some very nice floral coffee notes. Taste is a sublime mix of roasted malt with some floral coffee notes, some black chocolate with light subtle residual sugar notes. Body is full with good carbonation and no real apparent alcohol notes. Wonderful coffee stout.

0,33l bottle at home bought at Malt Attacks Brussels. BB 05.2023. black color, basically no head. smells strong of coffee, bitter herbalish, some brown sugar, earthy, peppery. nice smell, great coffee but some disturbing bitterish smells. full body, light carbonation, oily mouthfeel. tastes of coffee, earthy, spices, peppery, brown sugar, light lactose, some bitter chocolate. finishes lightly sweet with notes of coffee, bitter chocolate and some notes of sweet spices. quite good one, especially once it warms up a bit. quite heavy, almost too heavy for me, the coffee is nice but developed some weird side flavours, so I assume its not that fresh anymore. overall still another great laugar, wish I could have tried this fresher.
