his is a Hop Driven, Malty Ale with a strong bitterness thanks to a good dose of Citra and Galaxy hops. Its a tough nut, but loveable all the same.

Those of you that loiter in bottleshops in your spare time will probably have noticed that our Rare Breed IPA is no longer a Rare Breed. She’s become an all-grown-up fully-fledged member of the permanent range.

…and like the doting parents we are, we’re super proud of her.

She still has the same big tropical hop aroma – we dry-hop using Galaxy (Tas), Citra (USA) and Motueka (NZ), and full malty body (Ale malt, Wheat and Crystal malts).

Specs are: 6.2% abv, 65 BU…one for hopheads and beer nerds everywhere.

Citrus and resinous hops. Candied sweet malt rounds out the bitterness and extends tot he finish. medium bodied. Not a powerhouse, just a well made IPA.

Bottle at Taps Beer Bar, KL. It pours ambers with a small white head. The nose is orange sponge cake, stewed citrus, earth, resin and pine needles. The taste is crisp, bitter, orange peel, grapefruit, pine needles, resin, light soap and mild alcohol with a lingering dry-bitter finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Solid IPA.

Little bit earthy, some floral hop is sweet. Earthy and a light phenolic character. Not much hop but ok pale.

Like the malt flavour coming through. Didn’t get the citris taste that others claim like a sierra Nevada.

Bottled @Beer Hunters
Clear copper color, small off-white head. Resiny hoppy aroma. Light to medium-bodied. Piney, resiny hoppy. Perhaps some citrus, doesn’t feel very fresh.

Sampled at Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2013 - Day 2, Session 1. Cascade and Galaxy version, evidently. Pours clear, deep gold with a clinging light beige cream head. The nose has decent citrus presence, orange and grapefruit, faint pine. Medium sweet flavor with slightly aged hops, tangerine. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Light pine resins to finish with sugary citrus and bready malts. Fair.

(Bottle, 0.33 l, at Hilpeä Hauki, 20131001) The beer poured deep amber and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had pine, fresh grass and malts. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were fruitiness, pine, malts, hint of caramell and medium bitterness. Aftertaste was hoppy and bitter. A good hoppy brew. Despite the long trave the beer appeared to be in quite good condition.
