Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured a hazy orange color with a large creamy amber-beige head that left some lacing. The aroma was a wonderful mix of sweet pineapple, mango, orange marmalade, pine and brown sugar. The flavor fell short of the nose but had a pleasant mix of bitter and tart grapefruit, pineapple, pine and orange with undertones of table sugar, caramel, brown sugar and hot peppers. the finish was long, fruity and fairly boozy. Full bodied. Well done.

Pours clear dark copper color with light tan head. Aromas of toasted malts, brown sugar and citrus. Sweet toffee flavor with citrus and a pretty high dose of hop bitterness. Medium to full body with moderate carbonation. Decent, but not really a typical barley wine.

Bomber from Oak Tree. Pours hazy copper with a foamy beige head. 2 fingers or so. Arom is bready and hoppy. Maybe a touch of vanilla. Full bodied. Flavor is, dare I say, barley wine. Lots of brown sugar, some vanilla and a bunch of hop that balances. Heat is barely detectable. There’s a possible diacetyl component - but if that’s what it is, it adds an additional taste rendering things complexor than expected. It’s a damn good ale.

Location: 22 oz bottle from Buy Rite - Jersey City, 11/7/10
Aroma: The nose has some toast, caramel, booze, a bit of earthy hop, and some fruity notes
Appearance: The pour is mahogany in color with a wispy beige head and some drippy lace
Flavor: The flavor is somewhat sweet up-front, caramel malts, some hops in the finish for balance
Palate: The body is medium-full, it is a little syrupy, and has a relatively hot and lengthy finish
Overall Impression: This is a solid Barley wine. Not a top notch example of the style in my opinion, but a solid one none the less.

(Draught at Akkurat, Stockholm, 22 Oct 2010) Dark amber colour with frothy, off-white head. Malty, fruity nose with caramel, black-currant, pine needles and a touch of alcohol. Malty, fruity taste with notes of caramel, marzipan, black-currant, pine needles and a generous bitterness in a finish with a warming alcohol bite. Full body, slightly sweet. Very nice.

Tap at Rattle n Hum. Pours a semi-clear amber with a small, off-white head. Enticing malt aroma with lots of raisin and caramel. Sweet flavor with more dark fruits, caramel and some toffee, followed by a delicate bitterness that hides beneath the malts. Medium in body with average carbonation. Perhaps a bit thinner than most Barley Wines, but I won’t knock drinkability in a BW. Finishes sweet with lingering bready malts and caramel. Very good.

Bottled@Akkurat, Stockholm (thanks to BK for helping me out drinking this one). Deep ambery red colour with big off-white head that leaves some lace. Aroma is fruits, wood, caramel malts, mild bready notes as well as some zesty notes and a bit of alcohol as well. Flavour is being quite much the same, but the alcohol is burning a bit too much.

Cola color pour. Taste is spicy and strong, almost like a whiskey malt mixed with Dr. Pepper. A little syrupy. I liked it. Rated 8/1/08
