Shared 500ml bottle in De Bierboom, Brugge during a ’Belgian Beer Board’ website bottle exchange on 31st Jan 2014. Clear golden, light amber body with minimal head of white wispiness. Semi-sweet malty nose with a mini floral and citrus undertone: same with the taste, malty front which sits back and allows the hops to take over. Decent enough and a good foil in between some heavy hitters during the evening of tasting.

Bottle from Bernie’s Real Ale off licence, Solihull. Poured a clear light amber with a thin white head. The aroma is malty and a litlle hoppy. The flavour is medium bitter, with lots of rich malt and a very bitter aromatic palate. A very flavourful and refreshing ale.

Full-bodied, slightly tangy ale and it does not feel like the strength it is.

Cask, handpump at The White Horse, Banbury, Oxon, Mon 16th April 2012 Dark golden in colour with white head, great clarity and a good looking beer. Quite thick and substantial mouthfeel with the strength showing. Good bitterness that is tempered slightly and kept in check by the sweety maltiness. A good beer that because I was driving this half actually seemed a little too string for me so I left some of it, however it was a good beer though I think I might have started to tire of it after a while. Cask @ The Job Bulman, Gosforth 220312
Golden amber...clear..thin white thick creamy head
Aroma of light fruits....light malts...not much else going on here
Taste - fruity...quite dense syrupy golden malts...bitter hops...bit metallic...alcohol noticeable...simple flavour...not keen on this...unbalanced
Palate - soft carb...medium body. Finish - fruits...metallic bitter lingering.
Overall - I couldn’t finish my half...really didn’t like this

[Cask at the Monks Retreat (JDW), Reading] Golden-amber with a small white head. Sweet at first, with caramel, oranges and evident alcohol. Then a hefty, pithy, grapefruit bitterness kicks in (which doesn’t sit well with the sweetness), with a lasting salty finish. Too salty for me - I normally enjoy Titanic beers but this one’s a bit rough,

Cask at the Prince Arthur (JDW), Fleet. A cloudy amber pint with a thick white head; the aroma is indistinct grain but in the mouth it is soft and creamy with a sharp bitter grapefruit flavour, giving a sustained bitter finish. Rather one-dimensional and unattractive. I’ll seek it elsewhere for a second opinion.
