Draft at Ginger man. A surprisingly weak offering from rogue. Wattery with too much hops not enough citrus and such.

From old tasting notes. Labeled as "Rogue Half-a-Weizen". Hazy honey gold color. Interesting earthy citrus wheat malt aroma. Refreshingly bittersweet complex malt flavor, reminiscent of spices and peppercorns. A hint of ginger leads to a big hop finish.

Draught @ Albion. Hazy rich yellow with small off-white foamy head, slight citrus aroma, medium carbonation, faint orange peel taste, abrupt finish. Felt a bit thin and watery.

Poor Hefe but a decent tasting brew.

On tap at the Yard House, Houston. It’s an almost clear one, golden in color and with a small white head. The aroma is lightly fruity and grainy, with a spice touch. Pretty boring, which goes for the flavor too. Some bitterness chiming in with the malts and fruits. Medium body with a bit hard carbonation. Malty, fruity finish. Overall, a boring one, but at least it downs easily. 140513

Draft at PreFunk. Very disappointing when compared to a real German weizen. Slight floral essence to what is a weak kristallweizen. I expected better from Rogue...

Sample at Daily Growler. Hazy golden color with a medium thin white head that recedes quickly. Spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma of wheat and spice. Light-bodied with flavors of wheat, coriander and malt. The finish is wheaty with a citrus and spice aftertaste. Slightly above average overall.

I liked this. On tap at the bocktown. Smooth and easy, right from the start. Almost has a slight berry perfumy aroma, just a hint. Same with taste, initially some wisp of a berry thing in there. Very unique and like able. Enjoyable as the session continues. Goes down surprizinlgly easy. Refined, well behaved. Very mild fruit smell keeps arising from the glass. Yes, ok by me. Look is not as cloudy as yer typpy hefe. Impressed.

22 ounce bottle into signature pint glass, no bottle dating. Pours hazy golden straw color with a 1 finger fairly dense bright white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of lemon, pear, apple, coriander, ginger, clove, wheat, light pepper, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity; fairly weak on strength as expected. Taste of pear, lemon, apple, coriander, ginger, clove, wheat, light pepper, and yeast earthiness. No bitterness; with lingering notes of pear, lemon, apple, coriander, ginger, clove, wheat, light pepper, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a short bit. Nice balance of malt, spice, and fruity ester flavors; with a good amount of flavor that is not watery at all; and zero cloying flavors present after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a lightly creamy, smooth, and fairly crisp mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is well hidden with only a slight warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a good witbier style. Good balance of malt, spice, and fruity ester flavors; and very smooth to drink. A pleasantly enjoyable offering.
